In a daring operation, the United States Marshal has apprehended a notorious slaver, bringing an end to a trail of deceit and exploitation that spanned the border. On January 1, 1861, the ‘Charlotte E’ lay was arrested at Pier 62, foot of Tenth Street, North River, on a warrant charging the captain’s involvement in the heinous crime of human trafficking. The Superior Court General Term had issued the warrant, and the Marshal’s men were hot on the trail.
