Sledge Man Sentenced to 20 Years for Threatening Mail Carrier with Weapon

A Sledge man was sentenced today to 20 years in prison following his conviction for threatening a postal employee with a dangerous weapon.

According to court documents, Henry Weaver, 47, was convicted in federal court on February 13, 2024, of one count of threatening a mail carrier with a dangerous weapon. The threat occurred in Marks, Mississippi, on April 23, 2022.

Weaver was sentenced today by United States District Judge Sharion Aycock to 240 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. Weaver, who has been in custody since his arrest in April, 2022, was remanded to the U.S. Marshals to begin serving his sentence.

“We will not tolerate threats of violence against mail carriers while they are simply doing their jobs,” said U.S. Attorney Clay Joyner. “We commend the U.S. Postal Inspection Service for their work on this investigation and for helping to protect the community from this defendant.”

This case was investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Quitman County Sheriff’s Office. The case was prosecuted by AUSA Robert Mims.

Weaver’s sentence serves as a reminder that threats against postal workers will be taken seriously and those responsible will face the full weight of the law.
