Deandre J. White, Loaded Firearm and Fentanyl Trafficking, Missouri 2020

Deandre J. White, 24, of St. Louis, Missouri, is facing federal charges after ATF agents found a loaded .223 caliber pistol, over 200 fentanyl capsules, and drug packaging tools during a raid on his home. The August 12, 2020, search capped months of surveillance linking White to a dangerous pattern of gun and fentanyl trafficking on the city’s streets.

White was apprehended as part of a coordinated federal crackdown under Operation LeGend, a high-intensity push to combat surging violent crime in St. Louis. Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives executed the search warrant at his residence, where they seized an Alien Armory Tactical AAT-15 pistol and live ammunition. He’s now charged federally with being a felon in possession of a firearm—a charge that carries serious mandatory penalties upon conviction.

Investigators say White didn’t just deal drugs—he armed himself during nearly every transaction. ATF agents conducted multiple controlled buys of both firearms and fentanyl from him over recent months, often witnessing White carry a loaded weapon during the exchanges. The fentanyl he distributed is a known killer, tied to countless overdoses across Missouri and the Midwest.

White is no stranger to violence or the law. He’s currently charged in St. Louis County under case number 20SL-CR01697 for Unlawful Use of a Weapon following a shooting on April 21, 2020. Just five days later, on April 26, he was arrested in Bridgeton, Missouri, for possession of fentanyl and a firearm—foreshadowing the federal case now unfolding.

Operation LeGend, named in honor of 4-year-old LeGend Taliferro—one of the youngest victims in St. Louis’ record-breaking 2020 homicide surge—has brought federal muscle to bear through agencies including the FBI, DEA, DHS, U.S. Marshals, and ATF. The operation targets repeat violent offenders like White, whose dual trade in guns and deadly narcotics fuels the city’s bloodshed.

White is scheduled for his initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate David D. Noce on Friday, August 14, 2020. Assistant United States Attorney Catherine Hoag is prosecuting. A criminal complaint is merely an accusation. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
