St. Thomas Gun Trafficker Pleads Guilty

ST. THOMAS, USVI – In a stunning turn of events, Mohammed Jubran, 27, from St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, stood before the court and admitted his guilt to trafficking firearms. The United States Attorney Ronald W. Sharpe announced that on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, Jubran had pleaded guilty to the serious offense.

Jubran’s criminal activities came to light when he sold an AK-47 to an individual on October 15, 2015. The plea agreement revealed his intent to continue selling more firearms in the future, despite being neither a federally licensed firearms dealer nor having a license under Virgin Islands law to possess any firearms.

This case was the result of a joint investigation led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Assistant United States Attorney Sigrid Tejo-Sprotte prosecuted the case with relentless determination.

Jubran’s sentencing is scheduled for March 9, 2017, when justice will be served for the illegal trafficking of firearms in the Virgin Islands. The plea agreement ensures that this dangerous individual will face the consequences of his actions.

The community of St. Thomas has been on edge regarding gun-related crimes, and this plea guarantees a step forward in combating illegal firearm activity. Authorities have commended the collaborative efforts of the FBI, DEA, and ATF for their successful joint investigation.
