Stacey R. Smith, Methamphetamine and Fentanyl Trafficking, Kentucky 2022

A Lexington woman has been sentenced to 175 months in prison for her role in a brazen methamphetamine and fentanyl trafficking conspiracy.

Stacey R. Smith, 42, was sentenced on Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Robert Wier for conspiracy to distribute 500 grams of a mixture containing methamphetamine and 400 grams of a mixture containing fentanyl.

According to her plea agreement, Smith conspired with others to distribute the deadly substances from January 2021 to March 2022. Specifically, from a source of supply in the Lexington area, Smith obtained pound quantities of methamphetamine and ounce quantities of what she believed to be heroin, which laboratory testing confirmed was fentanyl.

Smith then sold the drugs to several others, including her co-defendant, Shane Brock, 62, of London. These other drug dealers would then distribute the drugs to more drug dealers and end users.

For his role in the conspiracy, Brock was previously sentenced to 97 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.

Under federal law, Smith must serve 85 percent of her prison sentence. Upon her release from prison, she will be under the supervision of the U.S. Probation Office for five years.

The investigation was conducted by the DEA and Laurel County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sam Dotson prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.
