A brazen bank robber has been brought to justice after pleading guilty to stealing from two Boston-area banks in 2016.

Stephen D. Williams, 55, of Boston, pleaded guilty to two counts of bank robbery in federal court in Boston on Tuesday. He faces a sentence of no greater than 25 years in prison, five years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000.

The robberies took place on November 15 and 22, 2016, at the RTN Federal Credit Union in Brookline and the Mansfield Bank in West Bridgewater, respectively. In both incidents, Williams approached a teller and demanded cash, brandishing a black semi-automatic firearm during the second robbery.

Williams and an accomplice, later identified as Joseph Morris, were arrested on November 23, 2016, at an apartment complex in Brockton. Morris was charged in state court, while Williams was charged in federal court.

U.S. Senior District Court Judge Mark L. Wolf scheduled sentencing for March 13, 2018. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kenneth G. Shine of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts.
