Steven L. Ploof, Threatening FBI Agent, New York 2025

A disturbing incident of threatening a Federal law enforcement officer and their family has come to light in Rochester, New York.

On September 15, 2025, Steven L. Ploof, 48, of Greece, NY, went to the Ogden, NY, residence of an FBI Special Agent and his family. When he arrived at the house, Ploof placed two posterboard signs on the front porch. One sign read ‘Corrupt FBI AGENT!’ and the other sign read ‘I Want To (expletive) Your Kids!’

According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, the signs were placed on the porch with the intention of intimidating the family of the FBI Special Agent.

The case was brought to light after video of Ploof placing the signs was obtained from a residential security system.

Ploof was convicted of threatening to assault a member of the immediate family of a Federal law enforcement officer with intent to impede with such law enforcement officer while engaged in the performance of official duties, or with intent to retaliate against such law enforcement officer on account of the performance of official duties.

On Monday, Ploof was sentenced to serve 14 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Meredith A. Vacca.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Everardo A. Rodriguez. The sentencing is the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Allen D. Davis II, the Greece Police Department, under the direction of Acting Chief Ryan Parina, the Ogden Police Department, under the direction of Chief Travis Gray, and the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office, under the direction of Sheriff Christopher Bourke.
