In the small town of Durant, Mississippi, a peculiar problem has brewed. As soldiers on leave flood the local cafes, the authorities are wondering if the lack of beer on tap is causing more harm than good. While liquor is easily stashed away in a pocket, beer requires a more permanent presence, and it appears that’s exactly what’s happening. Despite the ban on beer, Durant’s soldiers are more likely to get drunk on whiskey, a more portable and potent poison. But to the relief of the townspeople, there’s been no reported cases of aggressive behavior from these inebriated soldiers towards the local ladies. In fact, the girls of Durant seem to be able to freely mingle with the soldiers, as long as they behave themselves. But the question remains: will voting for legal beer be the solution to Durant’s problems, or will it only lead to more trouble?
