Elkton Woman Sentenced to 6 Years in Prison for Murder-for-Hire Scheme
A 57-year-old woman from Elkton, Maryland has been sentenced to six years in prison for her role in a murder-for-hire scheme.
Susan Anderson was sentenced on March 9, 2018, by U.S. District Judge Richard D. Bennett in the District of Maryland.
According to the plea agreement, Anderson approached a frequent customer of the store where she worked and solicited him to murder the ex-boyfriend of her niece.
The customer, who was an FBI informant, recorded conversations with Anderson inside the store, during which she discussed the terms of the contract, the timing and locations of the murder, and what she wanted done with the body upon completion of the killing.
Anderson’s scheme was uncovered when the informant did not accomplish the murder as promptly as she wished, and she stated, ‘I want it done. Just get it done now. Just get it done. I want it done now.’
After further delay, Anderson stated she could ‘blow him away myself.’
United States Attorney Robert K. Hur praised the FBI for their work in the investigation, which led to Anderson’s arrest on May 11, 2017.
Assistant U.S. Attorney David Metcalf prosecuted the case.
Anderson was sentenced to six years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
The crime occurred in Elkton, Maryland.
