TACOMA, WA – Demitri Super, 29, of Tacoma, Washington, will spend the next 15 years in federal prison for the production of images of child sexual abuse. The sentence, handed down today in U.S. District Court, represents a severe reckoning for a predator who exploited a vulnerable toddler at the direction of an online co-conspirator. Acting U.S. Attorney Teal Luthy Miller announced the sentencing, a culmination of a chilling investigation that stretched across international borders.
Super pleaded guilty in June 2025, admitting to the horrific acts. But the courtroom wasn’t about legal maneuvering; it was about acknowledging the unspeakable. U.S. District Judge Benjamin H. Settle didn’t mince words, telling Super directly, “What you did was monstrous.” The 15-year sentence isn’t just punishment, it’s a recognition of the profound damage inflicted on the victim and the violation of trust perpetrated against the child’s parents.
The case unraveled after a foreign law enforcement organization flagged a disturbing video to Homeland Security Investigations (HSI)’s Computer Crimes Center. The video depicted the rape of a toddler, and had been seized from a U.K. sex offender who was posing as a female online. This individual had used Skype to direct Super in the abuse. HSI agents swiftly moved to identify the perpetrator seen in the video – Demitri Super. They interviewed him, arrested him, and crucially, identified the victim and notified the devastated parents.
Prosecutors laid bare the gravity of Super’s actions in a pre-sentencing memo to the court. “The seriousness of Super’s crime cannot be overstated,” they wrote. “He committed vile acts of sexual abuse against a defenseless toddler in his care. That toddler’s parents had every reason to trust Super with their child, and Super breached that trust in the most devastating manner possible.” Super willingly participated in this abuse, motivated by the demands of a stranger overseas, highlighting the chilling reach of online exploitation.
This isn’t an isolated incident. The case falls under the umbrella of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice, aimed at combating the escalating epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), the project pools federal, state, and local resources to track down predators and rescue victims. The fight against these crimes continues, and investigations like this demonstrate the relentless pursuit of justice.
Super’s prison term will be followed by 15 years of supervised release. The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Matthew Hampton. Those with information about suspected child exploitation are urged to contact HSI or their local law enforcement agencies.
