The nation’s capital, Washington D.C., was abuzz with news of a impending shake-up in the forestry bureau. President Taft had directed the bureau to discontinue the services of about sixty temporary employees by July 1st, a move sparked by a drastic change in the way the bureau conducts its work. This upheaval comes on the heels of a tumultuous period for the nation’s forestry bureau, with the recent Supreme Court decision in the case of the Waters-Pierce Oil company still fresh in the minds of Americans.
