Tekoa Rivers, Distribution of Fentanyl, West Virginia 2021

A Huntington man has admitted to selling fentanyl, a deadly opioid, in the city.

According to court documents and statements made in court, Tekoa Rivers, 22, sold fentanyl on April 29, 2021, in Huntington, West Virginia.

Rivers’ arrest and subsequent guilty plea are a stark reminder of the ongoing opioid crisis plaguing the nation.

As part of his plea agreement, Rivers is scheduled to be sentenced on August 8, 2022, and faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.

United States Attorney Will Thompson commended the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for conducting the investigation that led to Rivers’ guilty plea.

Rivers’ case highlights the need for continued law enforcement efforts to combat the distribution of deadly opioids like fentanyl.
