Christopher Carter Jr, Methamphetamine Distribution, Louisiana 2024

A Terrebonne Parish man has been brought to justice for peddling death dust to the streets of Louisiana. 30-year-old Christopher Carter Jr., a resident of Gray, Louisiana, was sentenced to 10 years in the slammer for distributing 175 grams of methamphetamine.

The sentencing, which took place on May 9, 2024, came after Carter pleaded guilty to distribution of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1) and 841(b)(1)(A), and distribution of 5 grams or more of methamphetamine, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1) and 841(b)(1)(B).

According to court documents, Drug Enforcement Administration agents utilized a confidential source to conduct two audio-video recorded controlled purchases of methamphetamine from Carter. The first controlled purchase was for 49 grams of methamphetamine on May 19, 2021, and the second controlled purchase was for 126 grams of methamphetamine on June 17, 2021.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office. The prosecution was handled by Assistant United States Attorney J. Benjamin Myers of the Financial Crimes Unit.

Carter’s sentence includes 120 months of imprisonment, 5 years of supervised release, and a mandatory $200 special assessment fee. The sentencing marks a significant blow to the methamphetamine trade in Terrebonne Parish.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana, led by U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans, has made it clear that they will continue to crack down on those who peddle deadly drugs to our communities. This sentencing serves as a reminder that those who engage in this type of activity will face severe consequences.

The DOJ USAO has been working tirelessly to dismantle the methamphetamine trade in Louisiana, and this sentencing is a testament to their efforts. We will continue to follow this story and provide updates as more information becomes available.
