Franklin Man’s Gun Charge Guilty Plea
A 33-year-old man from Franklin, West Virginia, has admitted to a firearms charge, a move that could land him behind bars for up to 10 years and cost him up to $250,000 in fines.
Devin Cory Teter, 33, of Franklin, pleaded guilty to one count of “Unlawful Possession of a Firearm” in a West Virginia court.
Teter, a person prohibited from having a firearm because of a prior conviction, admitted to having a 12-gauge shotgun in Hardy County in December 2019.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen D. Warner is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government, with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives leading the investigation.
The case was presided over by U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael John Aloi.
Teter’s guilty plea comes as a result of his actions, and his sentence will be determined by the seriousness of the offense and his prior criminal history.
With the guilty plea, Teter now faces a maximum of 10 years behind bars and a fine of up to $250,000.
