LEXINGTON, Ky. – A Lexington man is facing up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to illegal firearm and cocaine charges.
Tevye T. Jones, 21, admitted to possessing a Glock .357 caliber pistol during a traffic stop. Officers also found a small bag of cocaine during the stop.
Jones was previously convicted of Robbery Second Degree in the Fayette Circuit Court in 2017. He was indicted on the current charges in May 2019.
The investigation was conducted by the ATF and Lexington Police Department. Jones is scheduled to be sentenced on February 18, 2020.
According to the plea agreement, Jones faces up to 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000. However, any sentence will be imposed by the Court after its consideration of the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and the federal sentencing statutes.
The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and make our neighborhoods safer for everyone.
The PSN program was reinvigorated as part of the renewed focus on targeting violent criminals, directing all U.S. Attorney’s Offices to work in partnership with federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement and the local community to develop effective, locally-based strategies to reduce violent crime.
