A notorious Texas fugitive, 32-year-old Christopher Lee Brown, has been brought to justice after months of evading law enforcement in a massive methamphetamine operation. The feds have charged Brown with one count of conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine, a crime that could land him behind bars for up to 20 years.
According to court documents, Brown’s operation brought in a whopping $1.5 million in illicit profits. The scheme, which was uncovered by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), involved the distribution of large quantities of methamphetamine in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Brown, who was taken into custody on February 10, 2023, by the U.S. Marshals Service, has been held without bail pending trial. His attorney, Robert F. Gonzales, has yet to comment on the charges.
The case against Brown is part of a larger investigation into methamphetamine trafficking in the Southern District of Texas. The DEA, working in conjunction with local law enforcement agencies, has made several high-profile arrests in recent months.
“This case is a prime example of the DEA’s commitment to disrupting and dismantling large-scale drug trafficking organizations,” said Special Agent in Charge, DEA Dallas. “We will continue to work tirelessly to bring those responsible for the spread of methamphetamine to justice.”
Brown’s trial is set to begin on April 10, 2023, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas. The defendant faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $1 million if convicted.
The case is captioned United States v. Brown, with a docket number of 3:23-cr-00050. It is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas.
