Texas Man Gets 15 Years for Sharing Child Rape Videos on Facebook

Kevin Montemayor, a 28-year-old resident of Zapata, Texas, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for possessing and sharing child pornography on Facebook.

Montemayor pleaded guilty to the charges on March 28, 2022, and U.S. District Judge Keith Ellison handed down the sentence, ordering Montemayor to pay $42,000 in restitution to the victims and serve five years on supervised release following completion of his prison term.

According to court documents, Montemayor came to the attention of law enforcement after an IP address associated with him was used to post child sexual abuse material on Facebook Messenger. On August 9, 2020, authorities executed a search warrant at Montemayor’s residence and found several electronic devices containing child pornography.

During the investigation, authorities identified a victim who claimed she met Montemayor over the instant messaging application Kik when she was only 15. She alleged that Montemayor sexually extorted her for child sexual abuse material by threatening to leak her images if she did not continue to supply him with more explicit material.

Montemayor will remain in custody pending transfer to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility to be determined in the near future. Homeland Security Investigations conducted the investigation, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Leslie Ann Cortez prosecuted the case.

Montemayor’s conviction marks a significant victory in the fight against child exploitation and highlights the importance of online vigilance in preventing the spread of child pornography. The case serves as a reminder that individuals who engage in such heinous crimes will be held accountable and face severe consequences.
