A $13,000 embezzlement scheme has come to an end for Theresa Williams, a 49-year-old former bank teller from Leavenworth, Kansas.

Williams pleaded guilty Monday to one count of theft by a bank employee, a crime that could land her in federal prison for up to 30 years and cost her up to $1 million in fines.

According to court documents, Williams embezzled the money from Mutual Savings Association in Leavenworth, where she worked. To cover up the crime, she made false entries in bank reports.

The sentencing hearing is set for February 25. In the meantime, the FBI and Assistant U.S. Attorney Jabari Wamble are being commended for their work on the case.
