In a swift and decisive move, U.S. District Court Judge James W. Morris handed down harsh sentences to three men convicted of a brazen holdup at the Harry Lostine real estate office in Washington, D.C.’s 800 block of Thirteenth Street NW. Darnell R. Kinnard, 36, of the 100 block of Fifty-Third Street SE, and William E. Thomas, 36, of the 1000 block of Twenty-Second Street NW, each received a sentence of 4 to 12 years. Thomas W. Moon, 28, of the 200 block of Ascot Place NW, was dealt a more severe blow, with a sentence of 7 to 21 years. Moon’s sentence was made even more stringent due to an earlier conviction for another robbery, which was to run consecutively, effectively adding a total of 7 to 21 years to his new sentence.
