Greenbelt, Maryland – In a brazen display of violence, Tiffany Renea Edmundson, 34, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, robbed three Prince George’s County convenience stores at gunpoint in a span of just over 24 hours, leaving a trail of destruction and fear in her wake.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland, on August 30, 2020, Edmundson began her crime spree, robbing a convenience store at gunpoint. The next day, she struck again, this time at two separate stores, stealing cash and lottery tickets. The total amount of cash stolen was approximately $323.
The Prince George’s County Police Department was quick to respond to the robberies, and a search warrant was executed for the white Hyundai Sonata used in the crimes. Inside the car, police found a neon yellow and orange glove and a black ski mask, matching the description given by witnesses.
Edmundson was arrested on September 3, 2020, and charged with three counts of armed robbery and violating her supervised release for a previous federal conviction. On February 28, 2023, she was sentenced to 94 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
U.S. District Judge Paul W. Grimm also ordered Edmundson to pay $1,035 in restitution to the victim businesses. The sentence was announced by U.S. Attorney Erek L. Barron, who commended the FBI and the Prince George’s County Police Department for their work in the investigation.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in communities. The investigation was led by the FBI’s Baltimore Field Office and the Prince George’s County Police Department.
Edmundson’s crimes are a stark reminder of the dangers of gun violence and the importance of community policing. The Prince George’s County Police Department’s swift response and dedication to justice have ensured that Edmundson will face the consequences of her actions.
The case is also a testament to the effectiveness of Project Safe Neighborhoods in bringing together law enforcement agencies and the community to prevent violent crime. The program’s focus on building trust and legitimacy in communities has led to a decrease in violent crime rates across the country.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland is committed to holding accountable those who commit violent crimes and to providing support and resources to victims and their families. In this case, the restitution ordered by Judge Grimm will go towards compensating the victim businesses for their losses.
Edmundson’s sentence sends a clear message that armed robbery will not be tolerated in Maryland. The community can rest assured that the U.S. Attorney’s Office and law enforcement agencies will continue to work together to keep our communities safe.
