Methamphetamine distribution has landed a Jamestown woman in federal prison. Tracey Wynn, 42, of Jamestown, NY, was sentenced to serve 24 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara for conspiring to possess with intent to distribute, and distributing, 500 grams or more of methamphetamine.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua A. Violanti, who handled the case, Wynn was a drug trafficking associate of Douglas Beardsley and sold methamphetamine supplied by Beardsley between September 2018 and January 2019. On four separate occasions, Wynn sold methamphetamine to an individual working with the DEA.
Investigations into Wynn’s activities began to yield results when investigators executed a search warrant at her residence on August 7, 2017. The search recovered a quantity of methamphetamine, approximately $347 in cash, drug paraphernalia, as well as items indicating children lived at the residence.
Further evidence of Wynn’s involvement in drug trafficking was uncovered on October 23, 2019, when she committed a moving traffic violation and was stopped by a Jamestown Police officer. A search of the vehicle recovered two digital scales, one of which had crystal methamphetamine on it. Wynn was arrested for driving with a suspended license and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Upon being taken to jail, a bag of marijuana was found in Wynn’s sweatshirt pocket, and plastic bags of methamphetamine were found on her person. These discoveries solidified the case against her, ultimately leading to her conviction and sentencing. Douglas Beardsley, Wynn’s associate, was previously convicted and sentenced.
The sentencing is the result of an investigation by the Jamestown Police Department, under the direction of Chief Timothy Jackson, the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Frank Tarentino, New York Field Division; and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Bryan Miller, New York Field Division.
The collaboration between these law enforcement agencies has led to the disruption of a significant methamphetamine distribution network in the Jamestown area. U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced the sentencing, highlighting the importance of cooperation between federal and local law enforcement in combating drug trafficking.
