A Saint Albans man has been sentenced to federal prison for his role in a fentanyl trafficking operation.
Travis Raynard Edward, 30, was sentenced to 8 years in prison for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl.
The charges stem from a March 2, 2018, search warrant executed by the DEA task force at Edward’s apartment on Shadyside Road in Saint Albans. During the search, officers seized 195 grams of fentanyl, two firearms, and more than $4,000.
Edward has prior felony convictions of unarmed robbery and delivery of a controlled substance.
The sentencing comes as part of Operation Synthetic Opioid Surge (SOS), a joint effort to prosecute fentanyl traffickers in Cabell and Kanawha Counties.
Through these prosecutions, law enforcement aims to impact the supply of deadly synthetic opioids in the hardest hit communities and save lives.
United States Attorney Mike Stuart commended the efforts of the Drug Enforcement Administration AHIDTA Task Force, saying ‘Fentanyl is deadly.’
Assistant United States Attorney Joshua C. Hanks is responsible for the prosecution.
United States District Judge Irene C. Berger imposed the sentence.
