Dorian Brown, Heroin Trafficking with Firearm, New Jersey 2014

TRENTON, N.J. — A Trenton man was sentenced to 37 months in prison for possessing over 100 grams of heroin with intent to distribute, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced today.

Dorian Brown, 37, was found with 143 grams of heroin and a loaded firearm in his home on June 4, 2014. The heroin and firearm were seized during the execution of search warrants on his car and Trenton home.

The investigation was led by detectives from the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, Special Investigations Unit, and officers from the Trenton Police Department, in cooperation with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The search warrants were executed on Brown’s car and Trenton home.

Brown had been the target of an investigation led by the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, Special Investigations Unit, and the Trenton Police Department, in cooperation with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). He was apprehended during the search warrants.

In addition to the prison term, Judge Freda L. Wolfson sentenced Brown to three years of supervised release. The government is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Molly Lorber of the U.S. Attorney’s Office Criminal Division in Trenton.

U.S. Attorney Fishman credited special agents of the DEA, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Carl J. Kotowski, and detectives of the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, Special Investigations Unit, under the direction of Acting Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri, with the investigation leading to today’s sentencing.

Defense counsel for Brown was Brian P. Reilly Esq., Assistant Federal Public Defender, Trenton. The investigation was a joint effort between the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, the Trenton Police Department, and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Brown pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute heroin.
