Trevin Tywon Davis, Firearm Possession by Convicted Felon, Georgia 2023

A repeat offender has faced the music in Albany, Georgia. Trevin Tywon Davis, a 44-year-old Albany resident, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for his role in illegally possessing a loaded pistol.

Davis was arrested on an unspecified date, however the exact date is not provided by the source, and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. This is not the first time Davis has found himself in trouble with the law, as he has at least three prior felony convictions for violent felonies or serious drug offenses in Dougherty County, Georgia, Superior Court and other jurisdictions.

The arrest took place after officers with the Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit (ADDU) initiated a traffic stop on a white Buick sedan with illegal window tint. Davis was driving, and the officer smelled marijuana coming from the car. Following the stop, officers found a loaded Glock 9mm handgun on a magnet against the center gear aisle on the driver’s side.

Davis has been involved in various illicit activities, including marijuana use and possession, as revealed in recorded jail calls following his arrest. He admitted to eating marijuana when he was pulled over and having an illegal loaded firearm.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit (ADDU) investigated the case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Matt Redavid prosecuting it on behalf of the Government.

Trevin Tywon Davis was sentenced to serve 180 months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release by U.S. District Judge Leslie Gardner on Oct. 24, 2023.

According to U.S. Attorney Peter D. Leary, repeat convicted felons caught with a loaded firearm will face federal prosecution for their willful disregard for the law. He added that his office will continue to work closely with local and state law enforcement partners to make communities safer.

Albany Police Chief Michael Persley expressed his gratitude for the partnership with federal partners in addressing the issue of repeat offenders in the community. He emphasized the importance of following the law to make the community a safe haven for its residents.

Assistant Special Agent in Charge Beau Kolodka of the ATF Atlanta Field Division stated that the ATF is fully committed to safeguarding communities from the threat of illegal firearms and violent crime.
