A string of armed robberies in Pittsburgh and its eastern suburbs has come to a close with the sentencing of 22-year-old True Kinnon to 14 years of incarceration.
Kinnon, a resident of Pittsburgh, was convicted of several counts of robbery, brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence, and conspiracy in federal court.
The crimes took place between November 2018 and February 2019, with Kinnon and his coconspirators targeting local businesses in Pittsburgh and several eastern suburbs, including Penn Hills, Monroeville, Turtle Creek, and Oakmont.
During these robberies, Kinnon and his coconspirators brandished a variety of weapons, including an assault-style rifle and a revolver, and robbed both store employees and customers who were in the store at the time of the robberies.
Kinnon had pleaded guilty for his involvement in seven separate robberies, and United States District Judge William S. Stickman, IV imposed the sentence of 14 years of incarceration, which was agreed upon by the parties.
Assistant United States Attorney Douglas C. Maloney prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
Acting United States Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Monroeville Police Department, the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, the Penn Hills Police Department, the Wilkins Township Police Department, and the Oakmont Police Department for their investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Kinnon.
Kinnon will serve 14 years of incarceration for his crimes, which targeted local businesses in Pittsburgh and its eastern suburbs.
According to the investigation, Kinnon and his coconspirators committed their crimes between November 2018 and February 2019, with the majority of the robberies taking place in the city of Pittsburgh and its eastern suburbs.
