Andrew Scott Hastings, Attempting to Provide Deadly Weapons to Al-Q…

Andrew Scott Hastings, 25, from Tulsa, Oklahoma, has been charged with attempting to provide deadly weapons to the terrorist group Al-Qaida. The scheme involved the sale of 3-D printed firearm parts and accessories.

Hastings, a former aircraft powertrain repairer for the U.S. Army National Guard, was also implicated in online discussions promoting violence against American civilians as part of a global jihad. His arrest follows an investigation by multiple federal agencies.

According to court records, Hastings claimed to have previously been detained by law enforcement and instructed others on evading detection. He provided more than 500 pages of notes detailing military tactics and weapon manufacturing, along with instructions on avoiding the authorities.

Hastings communicated with an undercover FBI agent, posing as an Al-Qaida contact. During their interactions, Hastings offered to sell 3-D printed firearm parts and conversion devices known as ‘switches’ online. Surveillance footage shows him delivering packages containing over 100 switches, handgun components, and lower receivers to a postal facility.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Nathan E. Michel, Matthew P. Cyran, and Christopher J. Nassar are prosecuting the case with support from Trial Attorney Elisa Poteat of the National Security Division’s Counterterrorism Section. Hastings faces serious charges that could carry significant penalties if convicted.

This investigation underscores the ongoing threat posed by domestic extremists to national security. The ATF, FBI, Army Counterintelligence Command, and Tulsa Police Department continue to work together to combat terrorism and keep American citizens safe.
