Tulsa Man Admits to Jamitric Landrum Shooting

TULSA, OKLAHOMA – A verbal spat turned deadly on a Tulsa street in January 2022, and now, Dillon Charles Wilson is facing the consequences. The 26-year-old pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court to second degree murder in Indian Country for the shooting death of Jamitric Landrum, U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson announced.

According to court documents, the incident unfolded just after 1:00 AM on January 19th, 2022, in the 5900 block of Charles Page Boulevard. Tulsa Police arrived to find Landrum slumped in a wrecked vehicle, a single gunshot wound piercing his back. Despite rushed transport to the hospital, Landrum was pronounced dead.

The grim details, pieced together from witness testimony, paint a picture of escalating tension. A female witness told officers she and Landrum were cruising Tulsa, searching for a man they believed had attempted to break into her apartment. They pulled into a parking lot and spotted two men and a woman chatting with a tow truck driver. Landrum, behind the wheel, reportedly made a comment to one of the men – Wilson – that was perceived as disrespectful. The retort was swift and brutal: Wilson allegedly pulled a firearm.

As Landrum attempted to flee in the vehicle, Wilson opened fire, striking the victim. Landrum, wounded, desperately tried to maintain control of the car but ultimately crashed into a pole. The witness described a gray SUV speeding away from the scene, carrying the shooter. Investigators quickly identified Wilson as the suspect.

The investigation was a joint effort between the FBI and the Tulsa Police Department, a testament to the collaborative approach championed by Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN). This program, a Department of Justice initiative, aims to unite law enforcement at all levels with local communities to tackle violent crime and restore safety. The Department of Justice revitalized PSN in 2017, prioritizing the targeting of violent offenders.

Assistant U.S. Attorney John E. Brasher is prosecuting the case. Sentencing for Dillon Charles Wilson has not yet been scheduled. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and report on any further developments. This case serves as a stark reminder of how quickly a simple argument can spiral into irreversible tragedy, leaving a family mourning and a community shaken.
