Tulsa, OK – A ruthless drug trafficker was slapped with a 27-year prison sentence for orchestrating the transportation of over 100 kilos of pure methamphetamine through Pawnee County, Oklahoma.
Jabier Bustos, 35, a notorious figure in the Northern District of Oklahoma, was found guilty of Drug Conspiracy and will serve 324 months in prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release, as announced by U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson.
The defendant’s operation was dismantled thanks to the tireless efforts of law enforcement agencies, including Homeland Security Investigations, the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, and the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office.
According to court documents, Bustos collaborated with co-defendant Abel Anthony Flores to obtain the methamphetamine from a drug trafficking organization. Once in possession, they facilitated the transportation of over 101 kilograms of pure methamphetamine through Pawnee County, expecting payment for their involvement.
Agents not only seized the methamphetamine but also discovered cocaine, fentanyl pills, and several firearms during a search warrant. This significant haul highlights the devastating impact of methamphetamine on Oklahoma communities.
In a separate case, co-defendant Abel Anthony Flores was previously sentenced to 135 months in prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release, for his role in the conspiracy.
U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson emphasized that his office will continue to work towards disrupting and dismantling any criminal organization operating in the Northern District of Oklahoma. “Today’s prison sentence puts criminals who bring dangerous drugs into the Northern District of Oklahoma on notice of the cost of that activity,” he stated.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Joel-lyn A. McCormick prosecuted the case under the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF), a program that identifies, disrupts, and dismantles high-level criminal organizations threatening the United States.
Bustos will remain in custody pending transfer to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.
