Denver, CO – Two former medical executives have been indicted in a massive health care fraud scheme that allegedly swindled $873 million from the system.
According to a press release from Google Fraud News, David Zelinger and Shawn C. Whiting were charged with multiple counts of conspiracy to commit health care fraud, conspiracy to commit money laundering, and other related charges.
The indictment alleges that the two executives, who worked at a Colorado-based medical company, orchestrated a scheme to submit false claims to Medicare and other insurance providers, resulting in the massive financial loss.
The indictment was unsealed on March 14, 2024 in the United States District Court for the District of Colorado.
