Tyler Scott Topolski, Bank Robbery, Florida 2015

VERO BEACH, FL – Tyler Scott Topolski, 20, of Vero Beach, walked into the Florida Community Bank on November 6, 2015, with a demand note in hand, making off with $973.00 in cash.

The bank robber, who brandished a threatening note, read: ‘NO dye Paacs, I need All the 50’s & 100’s In the Bag! Fan the bills out first. Any restiance I will kill you & myself.’

Topolski, who was later identified through bank surveillance photographs, had his identity confirmed by a South Carolina driver’s license and was positively identified by several bank witnesses.

Law enforcement officials worked tirelessly to track down Topolski, who was eventually found hiding in his mother’s closet in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on November 7, 2015. Upon capture, Topolski confessed to the crime, admitting that he had cut his facial hair to conceal his identity.

The case was a result of the collaborative efforts of the FBI, Indian River County Sheriff’s Office, Vero Beach Police Department, and Horry County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Carmen Lineberger.

Topolski pled guilty to an indictment charging him with bank robbery, in violation of Title 18, United States Code Section 2113(a). Sentencing is scheduled for June 3, 2016, before United States District Judge Kenneth A. Marra in Ft. Pierce. At sentencing, Topolski faces a possible maximum statutory sentence of 20 years in prison.
