Tyrone Douglas Amar, Drug Distribution, West Virginia 2023

A West Virginia man has been sentenced to four years and seven months in prison for his role in distributing fentanyl and methamphetamine in the state.

Tyrone Douglas Amar, 46, of Beckley, was sentenced on February 10, 2023, for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and a mixture and substance containing methamphetamine.

According to court documents, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at a Beckley hotel room on November 8, 2021. Amar was taken into custody and admitted to possessing approximately 59 grams of fentanyl, 45 grams of methamphetamine, and over $2,850 found on his person at the time of the arrest.

Amar further admitted that he intended to distribute the controlled substances. His accomplice, Krystle Elaine Cresce, 34, of Glen Morgan, was also arrested and sentenced to seven years and six months in prison for aiding and abetting the possession with intent to distribute heroin and methamphetamine.

The investigation into Amar’s activities was conducted by the Beckley/Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Unit, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department, and the Beckley City Police Department.

United States District Judge Frank W. Volk imposed the four-year and seven-month sentence on Amar. Assistant United States Attorneys Alex Hamner, Timothy D. Boggess, and Andrew D. Isabell prosecuted the case.

Amar’s sentence will be followed by three years of supervised release. The case is a reminder of the ongoing struggle against drug trafficking in West Virginia and the importance of collaborative law enforcement efforts to combat this issue.
