In a shocking turn of events, Tyrone Johnson, a 19-year-old former convict from North Carolina, has confessed to brutally attacking a young couple in a wooded area off New York Avenue NE in Washington D.C. on Saturday night, July 19, 1941. The victim, a 32-year-old U.S. Army Private Edward L. McCullough, remains in serious condition at Walter Reed Hospital with severe head injuries, throat slashes, and wrist cuts.
