Armed Robbery Rocks Wauwatosa Pharmacy
On August 1, 2016, the Swan Serv-U Pharmacy at 9130 W. North Avenue in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, was robbed at gunpoint. Two Milwaukee residents, Tytianna Jackson (age 19) and Marquise Jones (age 26), have been charged with the crime.
Jackson and Jones are accused of interfering with commerce by robbery pursuant to the Hobbs Act, a federal law passed by Congress in 1946. They also face charges of brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.
According to the indictment, the defendants entered the pharmacy armed with a firearm and demanded cash and prescription medication. The robbery is alleged to have taken place on August 1, 2016.
Each defendant faces up to 20 years in prison on the armed robbery count and a minimum mandatory sentence of 7 years and up to life in prison on the charge of using a firearm during a robbery. The Hobbs Act provides federal jurisdiction for cases involving violent criminals who commit armed robbery of businesses involved in interstate commerce.
The investigation is being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Wauwatosa Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Benjamin W. Proctor is prosecuting the case.
The public is cautioned that an indictment is merely a charge, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
