Un’Darius Dickerson, Carjacking, Memphis TN, 2024

⏱ 3 min read

Un’Darius Dickerson, 24, of Jackson, Mississippi, is trading the open road for a federal cell. He was sentenced to nine years in prison yesterday for a November 19, 2024, carjacking outside Memphis. Dickerson, masked and armed with a rifle, didn’t ask for the victim’s keys – he demanded them.

According to court records, Dickerson reportedly barked, “You know what this is. Give me those keys,” shoving the rifle in the woman’s face before speeding off in her car. The joyride didn’t last. Southaven, Mississippi, cops spotted Dickerson still behind the wheel the following day. A short pursuit ended with his arrest.

Dickerson confessed to the robbery, and the firearm was recovered. The feds took over, and yesterday, a judge handed down the nine-year sentence. It’s a clear message: stick up someone with a gun in this area, and you’re going away for a long time.

The case was a joint operation between the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Memphis Police Department, part of a larger push to curb gang violence and target violent offenders in and around Memphis. The Department of Justice is making a statement about federal involvement in local crime, and Dickerson is now paying the price.
