Federal Prison Sentence Handed Down for Convicted Felon’s Firearm Possession

Wilmington, Delaware – In a move aimed at curbing gun violence, Victor Adams, 45, was sentenced to 46 months in prison by Chief U.S. District Judge Colm F. Connolly.

According to court documents, Victor Adams was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in 2020.

On November 28, 2020, a Wilmington Police officer arrested Victor Adams on an outstanding warrant charging him with aggravated menacing. While placing Victor Adams under arrest, the officer discovered a loaded handgun concealed in a shopping bag he was carrying.

‘Our community is fighting the scourge of gun crime, and illegally possessed weapons are a key part of the problem,’ said U.S. Attorney David C. Weiss. ‘My Office is committed to working with our law enforcement partners to get guns off our streets and out of the hands of individuals who are not legally permitted to possess them.’

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, with assistance from the Wilmington Police Department, and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Briana Knox.
