Omaha Man Sentenced for Unlawful Possession of Ammunition

Victor Henderson, a 24-year-old resident of Omaha, Nebraska, has been sentenced for being a felon in possession of ammunition. On June 21, 2024, Henderson was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment by Chief United States District Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr. in federal court in Omaha.

Henderson was convicted in Douglas County District Court for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon in 2021. This conviction led to the current charges against him. During the search of the vehicle, officers located marijuana shake on the front passenger floorboard, an open container of alcohol on the driver’s seat, and an ammunition box in the back seat containing four live “Aguila” 9mm rounds of ammunition. Henderson was seated in the front passenger seat at the time of the traffic stop.

Henderson will not be eligible for parole, as there is no parole in the federal system. Following his release from prison, he will begin a 3-year term of supervised release. This case was investigated by the Omaha Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.

Grutel, the driver of the vehicle, also pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of ammunition. He will be sentenced on September 6, 2024.
