Tampa, Florida – The life of Gregory Allen Williamson, 59, of North Port, alias ‘Vlad Vlad,’ is to be spent in federal prison after he was sentenced to life for his sinister exploitation of a 12-year-old victim. U.S. District Judge William F. Jung imposed the sentence following a jury trial conviction on March 13, 2024.
Williamson’s deplorable actions included isolating and grooming a vulnerable young immigrant from Eastern Europe, sending her anonymous graphic emails with child sexual abuse material under the alias ‘Vlad Vlad.’ His cunning continued with gifts of cellphone chargers containing hidden cameras. These devices were used to record sexually explicit images of the young girl in her own bedroom.
The FBI Tampa Division − Sarasota Resident Agency and the North Port Police Department, with substantial assistance from the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, conducted the investigation that led to Williamson’s downfall. Assistant United States Attorneys Erin Claire Favorit and Lindsey Schmidt prosecuted the case.
“Life in prison will keep this depraved individual from hurting another child,” FBI Tampa Acting Special Agent in Charge Rodney Crawford said. “Our agents work with compassion and dogged determination to protect the innocent.”
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice initiative launched in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The nationwide effort has led to numerous convictions like Williamson’s.
