Von Ryan, Violent Crime, Pennsylvania 2013

On September 9, 2013, the PAED Federal District Court in Pennsylvania witnessed the case of Von Ryan, a defendant accused of various violent crimes. Ryan’s charges included assault with a deadly weapon, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The case against Ryan dated back to a series of incidents in the summer of 2012.

According to eyewitness accounts, Ryan was linked to three separate incidents where he was seen wielding a gun and threatening local residents. The first incident occurred on May 20, 2012, when Ryan allegedly robbed a convenience store at gunpoint. Two weeks later, he was involved in a shootout with a local police officer, leaving the officer injured. The third incident took place on June 10, 2012, when Ryan was seen threatening a group of people with a knife.

The investigation into Ryan’s activities led the authorities to recover a firearm from his residence, which was subsequently matched to the gun used in the convenience store robbery. Additionally, the police found evidence of Ryan’s involvement in the shootout with the officer.

As the case progressed, Ryan’s defense team argued that he had been coerced into committing these crimes by an accomplice. However, the prosecution presented a wealth of evidence, including eyewitness testimony and physical evidence found at the crime scenes, which contradicted Ryan’s claims. After a lengthy trial, on December 15, 2014, Ryan was found guilty on all counts. He was subsequently sentenced to 25 years in prison without the possibility of parole.
