William Edward Hickman Arrested for Kidnapping, Pendleton OR, 1927.

In a shocking turn of events, confessed kidnapper William Edward Hickman was arrested by vigilant Oregon authorities on the Columbia River Highway, 23 miles west of Pendleton. Hickman, who had been on the run since the kidnapping of 12-year-old Marian Parker, had seemingly evaded capture by traveling northward from California. However, it was when he turned back on advice given at Seattle that he made the fatal mistake of running directly into the hands of Chief of Police Tom Gurdane and State Traffic Officer Buck Lleuallin.
