William J. Laiti Arrested for Armed Robbery, Seattle WA, 1925

On a fateful Friday evening, April 17, 1925, the Mayflower Dairy office on 9th Avenue and Virgil Street in Seattle was shaken to its core by the daring heist of William J. Laiti, a notorious bandit. At approximately 6:00 PM, Laiti burst into the office, pistol in hand, and demanded that J.H. Dietrichs, the office manager, ‘stick ’em up.’ The other four employees, including Miss Loretta Drager, the cashier, and W.R. Spencer, a checker, were herded against the wall as Laiti snatched a cash bag from Miss Drager. In a brazen move, she managed to slip two diamond rings from her fingers into her pocket, saving them from the bandit’s grasp.
