A Vallejo man was sentenced to over three years in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to a recent court ruling in Sacramento.
William Michael Nitschke, 52, of Vallejo, was found to be in possession of a Smith & Wesson 9 mm handgun on February 22, 2019.
Nitschke has sustained multiple prior felony convictions and is prohibited from possessing a firearm, making him a prime target for law enforcement agencies.
The case was the product of an investigation by the Solano County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the FBI’s Solano County Violent Crimes Task Force and the Solano County District Attorney’s Office.
Assistant United States Attorney Adrian T. Kinsella prosecuted the case, which was brought as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), the centerpiece of the federal government’s violent crime reduction efforts.

Nitschke was sentenced to 3 years and 10 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Troy L. Nunley for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
