William Villemez, Child Pornography, Georgia 2013

A former teacher has been sentenced to five years in prison for receiving and possessing child pornography in Georgia.

William Villemez, 30, of Acworth, Ga., was convicted of receiving and possessing child pornography on April 19, 2013, after he pleaded guilty.

The charges alleged that between July 2008 and March 2011, Villemez ordered 32 DVDs containing images of child pornography and child erotica from a website based outside the United States.

He spent more than $750 for those DVDs and law enforcement traced those orders to Villemez’s home in Smyrna, Ga. During the execution of a search warrant in October 2012, agents found that Villemez had not only purchased the DVDs but had also downloaded child pornography onto his computer.

Villemez taught drama and dance to middle-school students at Pace Academy in Atlanta during the period that he was receiving DVDs in the mail and downloading computer images of child pornography.

“Child pornography is a horrendous crime that involves the sexual abuse and exploitation of the most innocent members of society,” said United States Attorney Sally Quillian Yates.

The case is being investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service with assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Cobb County Police Department.

Assistant United States Attorneys Paul R. Jones and Brent A. Gray prosecuted the case.

This case is being brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.
