Ryan Bacon, 37, a Wilmington man known as ‘Buck 50’, was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for his role in the kidnapping and killing of a New Castle County woman during the morning of June 6, 2017, and the shooting of a 6-year-old boy that same day.
The guilty plea was accepted by U.S. District Judge Leonard P. Stark. Bacon pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Kidnapping, Discharging of a Firearm During and in Relation to a Crime of Violence, Conspiracy to Commit Stalking, and Stalking.
According to court documents, Bacon’s actions led to the tragic death of a woman and the near-fatal shooting of a 6-year-old boy. The FBI’s Delaware Violent Crime Safe Streets Task Force, along with significant assistance from local law enforcement agencies, investigated the case.
David C. Weiss, U.S. Attorney for the District of Delaware, made the announcement. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Maureen McCartney, Jesse S. Wenger, and Christopher L. de Barrena-Sarobe are prosecuting the case.
The case has been ongoing for years, with many law enforcement agencies working together to bring Bacon to justice. The sentencing date for Bacon has not yet been set.
The victim’s family and community are likely relieved that justice is being served, but the pain of losing a loved one will never fully go away. Bacon’s sentence serves as a reminder of the severity of his crimes and the importance of holding perpetrators accountable.
The case is a stark reminder of the dangers of violence and the importance of working together to keep our communities safe. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and provide updates as more information becomes available.
