Jake Chiaradonna, Bank Robbery, New Hampshire 2016

CONCORD, N.H. – A local man has pleaded guilty to committing two brazen bank robberies in Rochester, New Hampshire. Jake Chiaradonna, of Wolfeboro, pleaded guilty in federal court on Thursday to robbing two banks in the span of just six days.

The first robbery occurred on October 5, 2016, when Chiaradonna entered the Citizens Bank on Milton Road in Rochester and handed the teller a note claiming that he had a gun and demanding money. The teller gave Chiaradonna $1,100 from the register, and he fled the bank. Six days later, on October 11, 2016, Chiaradonna committed a similar robbery at the TD bank on Old Dover Road in Rochester, handing the teller a note stating "give me your 20’s, 50’s, 100’s I have a gun." That robbery yielded an estimated $2,000.

Police circulated bank surveillance images to the public, and in response, several individuals contacted law enforcement to identify Chiaradonna as the robber. Police and Deputy U.S. Marshals subsequently located and arrested Chiaradonna at a Wolfeboro area motel.

The case was investigated by the Rochester Police Department and the Wolfeboro Police Department, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shane Kelbley.

Chiaradonna’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 26, 2017. He faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 for each count of bank robbery.

According to court records and statements made in court, Chiaradonna’s crimes were motivated by a desire for quick cash. His guilty plea marks a significant victory for law enforcement in their efforts to bring the perpetrator to justice.

The Rochester community can breathe a sigh of relief now that Chiaradonna has pleaded guilty and faces the consequences of his actions. As Assistant U.S. Attorney Shane Kelbley noted, "bank robberies are serious crimes that put the public at risk. We are glad that justice will be served in this case."

Chiaradonna’s crimes serve as a reminder of the importance of public vigilance and cooperation in preventing and solving crime. The public’s quick response to the bank surveillance images played a crucial role in identifying and apprehending the suspect.
