Youngstown Felons Indicted for Gun Possession

Four Men Indicted for Federal Firearms Violations in Ohio

In a major crackdown on gun violence, four men from Northeast Ohio have been indicted on federal firearms charges, according to David A. Sierleja, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.

Among those charged are Duane E. Spagnola, 30, of Warren; Dwaylen D. Sellers, 22, of Youngstown; Corey D. Johnson, 26, of Cleveland; and Timothy C. Bowers, 45, of Conneaut. Each faces serious charges, including being felons in possession of firearms and ammunition.

Spagnola was caught with a Colt revolver and ammunition on February 21, 2017, after having been convicted of attempted felonious assault in 2014. Sellers had a similar .357 Magnum revolver on February 3, 2017, following a robbery conviction in 2016. Johnson was found with a Smith and Wesson pistol and ammunition in October 2016, despite a prior conviction in 2010.

Bowers, who has also been charged with maintaining a drug premises, was caught with multiple firearms, including a Hi-Point rifle, a shotgun, and several revolvers on January 11, 2017. He had previously been convicted of illegal drug manufacturing in 2008.

The charges carry serious penalties, and each case is being prosecuted by different Assistant U.S. Attorneys following investigations by various law enforcement agencies, including the ATF and FBI.
