Yvonne Davis, Prison Assault with a Weapon, Connecticut 2012

A federal grand jury has indicted Yvonne Davis, a 61-year-old prisoner at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Danbury, Connecticut, for allegedly using a dangerous weapon to assault another inmate at the facility.

According to the indictment, the assault occurred on November 25, 2012. If convicted, Davis faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 10 years and a fine of up to $250,000.

Davis is currently serving a 37-month sentence after being convicted in the Northern District of Texas of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation, and Assistant United States Attorney Neeraj N. Patel is prosecuting the case.

Acting United States Attorney Deirdre M. Daly stressed that an indictment is not evidence of guilt and that charges are only allegations. Davis is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
