YWCA of Knoxville, Housing Assistance, Tennessee 2021

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Young Woman’s Christian Association of Knoxville and the Tennessee Valley (YWCA) has been handed a $475,000 blow in the form of federal funding for a housing assistance program, announced Acting United States Attorney Francis M. Hamilton III on [Insert Date].

YWCA’s Safer and Stronger Transitional Housing Program offers transitional housing to victims of domestic violence and their families, providing financial education, parenting education, and trauma-informed care, including support groups and classes specifically for victims of domestic violence.

The Office on Violence Against Women provides federal leadership in developing the national capacity to reduce violence against women and administer justice for and strengthen services to victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.

This award is one of many that OVW is distributing in 2021 to support projects that meaningfully address the needs of underserved and marginalized survivors, improve access to justice, enhance survivor safety, hold offenders accountable, and build a coordinated community response to violence against women.

The Transitional Housing Program at YWCA of Knoxville aims to provide safe and supportive housing for victims of domestic violence and their families, helping them to rebuild their lives and achieve long-term stability.

With the $475,000 in federal funding, YWCA of Knoxville will be able to continue its vital work in supporting victims of domestic violence and their families, providing them with the resources and services they need to heal and move forward.

The grant will be used to support the Transitional Housing Program, which offers a range of services, including financial education, parenting education, and trauma-informed care, as well as support groups and classes specifically for victims of domestic violence.
