Brooklyn, NY – In a shocking turn of events, 11 defendants have been indicted in a multi-billion health care fraud scheme. According to a press release from Google Fraud News, the indictment was announced on March 12, 2024 by the U.S. Department of Justice.
The defendants, who were not named in the press release, were charged with various crimes including health care fraud, conspiracy, and money laundering. The indictment alleges that the defendants participated in a scheme to defraud the Medicare and Medicaid programs out of billions of dollars.
The indictment was the result of a long-term investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The investigation was led by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York.
