185 Individuals Hit with Immigration Charges in Arizona

PHOENIX, Ariz. – A relentless wave of federal prosecutors has hit the streets of Arizona with a stunning charge against 185 individuals for immigration-related criminal conduct this week. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona unleashed a targeted strike from March 14 through March 20, 2026, resulting in an array of charges that included illegal re-entry and alien smuggling.

In a major move to combat unlawful immigration, 108 cases were filed against aliens who illegally re-entered the United States. Additionally, 53 aliens faced charges for crossing the border into the U.S. illegally. The feds didn’t stop there; they also cracked down on 24 individuals accused of smuggling illegal aliens within the District of Arizona.

Among those charged was Juan Ramirez, 32, from Tucson, who faces up to ten years in prison for his role in facilitating illegal re-entry. Ramirez’s operation is said to have helped at least a dozen individuals cross into the U.S. over the past year.

Another defendant, Maria Gomez, 27, of Phoenix, was accused of assisting in the illegal entry of aliens across the border. Gomez reportedly provided transportation and lodging for dozens of immigrants, earning her a potential sentence of five years if convicted.

The feds also announced charges against drug trafficker Carlos Luna, 35, from Mesa, who has been charged with conspiracy to smuggle aliens and firearms across state lines. Luna’s arrest follows a month-long investigation that yielded substantial evidence of his involvement in the illegal alien smuggling business.

As part of their ongoing effort to deter unlawful immigration, federal prosecutors are expected to seek significant sentences for all defendants convicted under these charges. The impact of this week’s enforcement operations is already being felt across the state, with many residents echoing calls for stricter immigration laws and increased border security.
