2 Men Arrested in Jefferson Parish for 100+ Child Porn Counts

Two Jefferson Parish men are behind bars after being hit with more than 100 combined counts of child pornography, Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry announced today. The arrests mark the latest escalation in the state’s crackdown on digital exploitation of minors, with both suspects taken into custody following a sweeping cybercrime probe.

Rex Gibson, 53, of Metairie, was booked on exactly 81 counts of Possession of Sexual Abuse Images and/or Videos of Children under the age of 13. Authorities moved swiftly after digital evidence linked Gibson to a vast trove of illegal material. He was booked into the Jefferson Correctional Center without bond, facing charges that carry mandatory prison time under Louisiana law.

Gaige Moll, 17, of Lafitte, was arrested on 40 counts of Possession of Sexual Abuse Images and/or Videos of Children under 13, plus an additional 15 counts involving victims of any age. Despite his youth, Moll is being prosecuted as an adult due to the severity and volume of the material found during the investigation. He was also booked into the Jefferson Correctional Center pending arraignment.

The bust came after a coordinated effort between General Landry’s Cyber Crime Unit, Homeland Security Investigations, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the Louisiana State Police. Investigators traced digital footprints across multiple platforms, uncovering evidence stored on personal devices and cloud-based accounts tied directly to both men.

“As a father, I know how important it is to protect our children; and as Attorney General, I will continue to do all I can to help parents fight back against predators,” said General Landry. “My office and I will bring those who exploit our children to justice.”

Landry’s Cyber Crime Unit has amassed a track record of dismantling networks of exploitation, investigating thousands of cases involving victims from infancy to 16 years old. Anyone with information about ongoing child exploitation is urged to contact the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation at 800-256-4506. Anonymous tips can lead to arrests—just like these.
